The Ruler of Highgate is an optional but important quest in Act 9 of Path of Exile that offers a valuable passive skill point and influences the leadership of the Highgate settlement. The quest begins immediately upon reaching Highgate, where you learn that Oyun, the leader of the settlement, has been kidnapped by Kira, a vendor introduced in Act 4. Kira intends to sacrifice Oyun to Garukhan, a Maraketh goddess, in the area known as The Quarry PoE 1 Currency.

Starting the Quest
To start The Ruler of Highgate quest, speak with either Irasha or Tasuni in Highgate. They inform you about Oyun’s kidnapping and Kira’s plan. Your objective is to rescue Oyun and stop the sacrifice ritual.

How to Reach The Quarry
From Highgate, you need to travel through several zones to reach The Quarry:The Descent,The Vastiri Desert,The Foothills,The Tunnel,The Quarry.Once inside The Quarry, activate the waypoint located roughly in the center of the area. From there, head west to find The Shrine of the Winds, which lies on the opposite side of The Refinery.

Confronting Kira and Garukhan
At The Shrine of the Winds, you will find Kira performing a ritual to sacrifice Oyun to Garukhan. Your task is to defeat Kira and Garukhan to prevent the sacrifice. The fight can be challenging due to Garukhan’s powerful attacks and Kira’s support skills.

Quest Outcomes and Rewards
After defeating Kira and Garukhan, you face a crucial choice regarding the leadership of Highgate. Since Oyun is lost, you must decide who will take the Sekhema Feather and rule Highgate: Tasuni or Irasha. This decision affects the settlement’s future and grants you a reward from the chosen leader.

Giving the feather to Irasha or Tasuni rewards you with a Book of Skill, which grants a free passive skill point to enhance your character.The choice also influences dialogue and minor story elements in Highgate, adding some role-playing depth to the quest.
