Two hundred kilometres north of the Arctic Circle, autonomous haulers dump 400 tons of iron ore every ten minutes. A 60 µm electroless Ni-W overlay adds sacrificial corrosion resistance validated by 5 000 h salt-spray testing.

Results
Conveyor availability rose from 94 % to 98 %, translating to an extra 1.2 Mt of ore per year—worth roughly half a billion dollars at current spot prices. In the Arctic, ball bearing rail systems are no longer hidden; they are the silent hinge of continuous resource flow.
